Kya Chal Raha Hai…: BharatPe Co-Founder Ashneer Grover Reacts As Officials Stop Him From Flying At IGI Airport

Ashneer Grover Stopped At IGI Airport: The former managing director of BharatPe, Ashneer Grover, and his wife Madhuri Jain were stopped at the Indira Gandhi International Airport on Thursday evening as they were about to board a flight to New York.

The intervention comes in the wake of a lookout circular (LoC) issued earlier in the week by the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) during the ongoing investigations into the alleged fraud at BharatPe.

Sindhu Pillai, Joint Commissioner of Police (EOW), confirmed that the couple was detained before the security check and instructed to return to their Delhi residence. He further revealed that Ashneer and Madhuri were also asked to join the probe at the EOW office at Mandir Marg next week. Pillai clarified that, as of now, the couple has not been arrested.

ASHNEER GROVER ADRESSES SITUATION

Ashneer Grover took to X (previously Twitter) and addressed the situation. He stated that he had not received any communication or summon from the EOW until 8 am on the morning of November 17, since the FIR was filed in May.

He wrote, "Kya chal raha hai India mein ? Filhaal to Ashneer stopped at airport chal raha hai janab.

So facts:

1. I had not received any communication or summon from EOW since FIR in May till 8 AM today 17 morning (7 hours after returning from airport).
2. I was going to US from 16-23 November
3. At immigration they said LoC laga hua hai sir - EOW se check kar ke batate hai
4. I found it strange as have travelled 4 times internationally since FIR filed in May - never been a problem and I had not even been summoned once
5. Flight left in meantime anyways - EOW folks directed Immigration to let us out so that we can return home
6. Today morning EOW summon was home delivered - will cooperate as always."

Meanwhile, an EOW investigation uncovered that recruitment firms connected to Ashneer Grover were allegedly using backdated invoices to divert funds. In December 2022, BharatPe filed a criminal complaint against Grover and his family for allegedly committing a Rs 81.28 crore fraud, which includes Rs 7.6 crore that was purportedly paid to HR consultants between 2018 and 2021.
