Devoleena Bhattacharjee: The Kerala Story has become the talk of the town ever since it was released in the theatres. While the drama film has performed well at the box, it has sparked a controversy in the states of Kerala, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal. Despite the movie raking in big moolah, many people have termed it as a propaganda film.

At a time when Bollywood celebrities have refrained from opening up on the controversy surrounding the Kerala Story, TV's favourite bahu Devoleena Bhattacharjee shared her thoughts on the same.

The Saath Nibhaana Saathiya actress, while responding to a tweet about the film, revealed how her husband Shahnawaz Shaikh reacted after watching The Kerala Story with her. The small screen diva faced the brunt of the trolls after she married a Muslim man in December 2022.

While the trolls often attack Devoleena, the Bigg Boss 13 contestant has never paid heed to the negativity. She has now expressed her displeasure over the way people have been targeting the makers of The Kerala Story.

Devoleena shared what her husband said after watching Adah Sharma-starrer in the cinema hall. She tweeted, "Its not always like that. My husband is a muslim & came with me to watch the movie & he appreciated it. He neither took it as an offence nor he felt it was against his religion. And i feel thats how every indian should be like."

The Bengali beauty said that her husband is a Muslim and he appreciated The Kerala Story, mentioning that he didn't take offence to the film. She added that he didn't feel the flick was against his religion.

Her tweet came in responde to a post that read, "My colleague's friend Nidhi had an interfaith affair. She casually asked her boyfriend to watch Kerala Story. He not only refused but also abused her & accused her of being Islamophobic."

The film, which has directed by Sudipto Sen, has crossed the Rs 93.37 crore mark at the box office. Bollywood critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared the box office collection of The Kerala Story, mentioning that the movie has started the second weekend with a bang, hitting double digits.
