Gufi Paintal Health Update: Veteran actor Gufi Paintal, who is popularly known for playing the role of 'Shakuni Mama' in BR Chopra's mythological show Mahabharat, was hospitalised in Mumbai yesterday following age-related health issues.

Confirming the news, his nephew, Hiten Paintal, told the media that the actor had been admitted to a suburban hospital in the Andheri area for over a week now. He is 80. Note, Mahabharat used to air on Doordarshan in 1988.

Mahabharat actor Gufi Paintal, best known for playing Shakuni Mama, was admitted to a hospital in Mumbai following his critical health condition. However, as per a report by ETimes, the actor's condition is stable now, which has been confirmed by his son, Harry Paintal.

Actor-singer Tina Ghai, who is the chairperson of the Cine and TV Artistes' Association (CINTAA) Care Committee and Welfare Trust confirming the same, told news agency PTI, "He has multiple health issues, including heart, kidney, and other age-related health issues. Hence, he was admitted to the hospital about seven to 10 days ago. I visit him regularly. He is stable."

Talking about his father's health, Harry Paintal told ETimes TV that the seasoned actor is stable now and recovering. He also requested that everyone pray for Gufi's well-being.

Further, Tina Ghai said, "Now he is stable, yesterday it was pretty bad. Actually when he preparing for the show, a play he was fine, memorising lines and preparing for that. And then suddenly he felt very uncomfortable and started feeling low."

"He was rushed to hospital. He had water retention and then doctor did some tests. And then we came to know that he has slight heart issue, kidney issues too. He has lost his wife many years ago and we decided to keep him in hospital. But yesterday he became stable but despite this lot of prayers are required and they do heal," she added.

Gufi Paintal is not only a wonderful actor but a television director too. Apart from Mahabharat, the veteran actor has been part of several popular Bollywood films like Rafoo Chakkar, Des Pardes, Dillagi, Maidan-E-Jung, and Daava, amongst others.

On the small screen, some of Gufi Paintal's noteworthy works include Kanoon, Sauda, Akbar Birbal, Om Namah Shivay, Mrs. Kaushik ki Paanch Bahuein, Karn Sanghini, and many more. His last TV show was Jai Kanhaiya Lal Ki.
