Kismat Ki Lakiro Ses Sumati Singh On Deepfake Videos Becoming Viral: Public Figures...

Sumati Singh on Deepfake videos: Following a viral video of actress Rashmika Mandanna's face being used on someone else's body, conversations have been going on around the dangers of the practice, known as 'deepfake,' and the concerns around the power of Artificial Intelligence. Actress Sumati Singh, currently seen in Kismat Ki Lakiro Se, shares her thoughts on the topic, and the concerns that arise from such technologies.

Big names like Alia Bhatt and Katrina Kaif have also become victims of deepfakes. Talking about celebrities becoming a target, Sumati says, "Big celebrities' videos become viral easily especially when it's something inappropriate because they get many views, which is a very bad mentality. This technology is meant for a good purpose, and to positively impact people but nowadays we're using it for the wrong reasons, which is not good at all. No one has the right to make such videos and make it viral."

Sumati adds, "Public figures face a greater risk as their images, contact information, and email addresses are readily available, making them susceptible to targeting. Exploiting a famous personality by spreading their videos can easily lead to viral content due to their widespread recognition."

Sharing her displeasure that such videos are going viral, Sumati says, "It's disheartening to witness such incidents not only involving celebrities but also affecting ordinary individuals. Creating such fake videos just for the sake of it can affect someone's mental health and even tarnish their image. While the creators may find it amusing, the repercussions are genuinely saddening."

Sumati shares that female celebrities are targeted more than males due to a thought that male celebrities are more likely to action, "Female actors are often more vulnerable to targeting due to a perceived fear that male stars might take decisive action when they face similar treatment."

Ask her if she has ever faced something similar, and she replies, "I'm fortunate and thankful that I haven't experienced such incidents, but I have faced bullying. Unfortunately, when a female is targeted, people often assume she must have done something to provoke it. It's commendable that more women are speaking out about it. If it were to happen to me, my immediate response would be to report the video, emphasizing the importance of adhering to rules and regulations. I would also vocalize my stance on social media, ensuring that those responsible face appropriate consequences."

The actress recommends what steps of action should be taken should one face such a situation, "When such videos go viral, the initial step should be reporting them. Subsequently, strict punishment should be administered to those responsible. In a country like India, which has seen significant development, it is crucial to establish and enforce rules and laws to address such issues effectively," she ends.
