Ramadan 2023 Begins: The holy month of Ramzan is here! March 24 is the first day of Ramadan in India this year as the crescent moon was sighted on Thursday evening. Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, is celebrated by Muslims with fervor and grandeur and during this period, Muslims pray and will abstain from food and water from dawn to dusk, before gathering with family and friends for iftaar (nighttime meals).

Meanwhile, ahead of Ramadan many popular celebs, performed Umrah in Mecca. TV actress Hina Khan is one such celebrity who began a pilgrimage to Mecca for spiritual purposes. This is her first Umrah. The actor shared several pictures from her trip to holy city. Besides Hina, Indian tennis sensation Sania Mirza too visited Mecca with family to perform Umrah. For the uninitiated, Umrah is the name given to a pilgrimage to the holy city of Mecca.

Actress Hina Khan visited Mecca with her family to offer prayers and perform her first Umrah. Hina has shared series of pics & videos of herself from the holy shrine. She is wearing ihram, a traditional white outfit worn by women.

Sania Mirza

Soon after her retirement from professional tennis, 36-year-old Sania Mirza embarked on a pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah before Ramzan. The Indian Tennis superstar was joined by her influencer sister along with family members. She shared glimpses of her pilgrimage on Instagram with the caption, 'Alhamdulillah, May Allah accept our prayers'.

Sana Khan

Sana Khan who has performed Umrah several times before recently visited Mecca again, this time it was a a little extra special for Sana Khan and her husband Anas Saiyad as the couple is expecting their first child at the end of this June.

Jannat Zubair

Jannat Zubair went to perform her first Umrah with her family. She shared several pics on Instagram posing with her brother Ayaan. Both brother and sister wore traditional white for their visit to the mosque.
