The Kapil Sharma Show’s Bharti Singh Recalls Phase Of Extreme Poverty, Reveals Mother Would ‘Clean Toilets’
One of the most-loved comedians in India, Bharti Singh charges a bomb for comedy shows. However, did you know that there was a time when her family was going through extreme poverty?
Bharti
Singh,
one
of
the
most
successful
comedians
today,
once
faced
extreme
poverty
when
she
was
growing
up.
In
a
recent
podcast,
she
revealed
that
her
father
had
passed
away
when
she
was
only
two
years
old,
and
her
siblings
had
to
work
in
a
blanket
factory
to
make
ends
meet.
Even
though
she
has
overcome
those
difficult
times,
she
still
hates
the
smell
of
blankets
and
the
sound
of
the
machine
from
the
factory.
Bharti
believes
that
most
comedians
come
from
humble
backgrounds,
and
poverty
is
often
a
driving
force
behind
their
success.
She
recalled
how
seeing
people
waste
food
would
make
her
angry,
and
she
would
even
consider
eating
the
leftovers
herself.
Bharti's
mother
worked
as
a
domestic
help
and
would
return
leftover
or
stale
food
from
her
employers'
homes,
which
became
their
fresh
food.
Despite
the
hardships,
Bharti
remained
determined
to
make
a
better
life
for
herself
and
her
family.
She
told
ETimes,
"When
my
mom
would
work
at
people's
homes,
I
used
to
sit
near
the
door.
She
would
clean
toilets.
While
leaving,
they
would
give
her
leftover
food.
Their
stale
food
would
become
our
fresh
food.
And
that
would
make
our
day.
Today
I
tell
my
mom,
whatever
I
have
done,
earned
is
only
because
of
you.
The
amount
of
love
I
have
for
my
10-months-old
son,
I
love
my
mother
much
more
than
that."
