Who Is 'CID' Fame Actor Dinesh Phadnis: If you are a 90s kid, then you must be familiar with Sony TV's hit show CID, which starred Shivaji Satam and Aditya Srivastava.
While the longest-running investigative drama has several memories attached to our childhood, there is sad news for all its fans as actor Dinesh Phadnis, who was best-known for essaying the role of junior Inspector Fredericks/Freddy, has passed away.
As per the PTI report, he breathed his last on Monday night in Mumbai due to multiple organ failure. He was 57. The actor was admitted to the hospital a few days ago, and his last rites will be performed today.
Confirming his demise to PTI, his CID co-star, actor Aditya Srivastava, said, "Dinesh has left us around 12:08 am. We know that he had liver issues, and it had an impact on the other organs. He was really unwell for two-three days. He couldn't survive."
Who is Dinesh Phadnis?
Dinesh Phadnis, one of the most famous faces in the movie and TV industries, was born in Bihar in 1966 and began working in 1997. He was a part of CID for 20 years, which aired in 1998 and ended in 2018. It had over 1,500 episodes. Phadnis is survived by his wife and a young daughter.

Besides CID, Dinesh Phadnis also had brief roles in Bollywood films such as Sarfarosh and Mela, both starred Aamir Khan in the lead roles. He also worked in the 2001 movie Officer, which starred Sunile Shetty, Raveena Tandon, and Hrithik Roshan's Super 30.
He had cameo appearances in TV shows including CID: Special Bureau, Adaalat, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, and CIF. Other than acting, he also wrote for a Marathi film.

Dinesh Phadnis played a comic character as CID officer Fredericks on CID. Talking about how he landed the role, in an old interview with TellyChakkar, the actor said, "I remember I was struggling for roles and wherever I went to seek work, I met B P Singh (producer of CID). I am not aware if it was sheer luck or co incidence. Finally, he asked me if I wanted to join CID and that's how my journey began. Later I also took up Aahat."
"The show earlier had no humour at all. So I was chosen to be the comic relief. And I must say that I have received great response from the masses," he added.
