Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai leap update: Rajan Shahi's top-rated drama is one of the few shows that took three generation leaps during its stint on the small screen. YRKKH started with Hina Khan and Karan Mehra as the original leads and later witnessed a time jump in 2016. Shivangi Joshi and Mohsin Khan took over the charge from Hina and Karan and played the respective roles of Naira and Kartik.

WHY YEH RISHTA KYA KEHLATA IS TAKING A LEAP?

As the makers introduced a generation leap in 2021, Shivangi and Mohsin made an exit from the serial. Pranali Rathod and Harshad Chopda entered Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, winning hearts with their respective performances as Akshara and Abhimanyu. AbhiRa's sizzling chemistry created ripples on the small screen, garnering huge ratings. Earlier this year, the creative team incorporated a six-year leap, roping in Jay Soni for an important role. The TRPs witnessed a drop after the track ended as the viewers complained that makers never fully utilised AbhiRa as a couple.

The channel and the production house have not revealed the reason behind taking the fourth-generation leap. Gossip mills suggest that the time jump was planned to combat the low TRPs of the show. There's no official confirmation about the same.

The news about Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai taking a leap and Pranali Rathod-Harshad Chopda's exit spread like wildfire on the internet. After two months of speculation, it was confirmed that Shehzada Dhami and Samridhii Shukla will play the new leads of the show.

"The casting team and the creative team liked Samridhi's audition for Yeh Rishta. She suits the bill perfectly for the show and is not overexposed on television just like Shivangi Joshi and Pranali Rathod, when they were roped in for YRKKH. Instead of dragging the storyline further, the makers thought of introducing a leap and hence, Pranali-Harshad will make an exit from the serial. Samridhi's acting chops and her innocence were big factors in bagging her the meaty role in a show like YRKKH" a source exclusively told Filmibeat.

SAMRIDHI SHUKLA ON REPLACING PRANALI RATHOD

Samridhii Shukla, who was last seen in a titular role in Saavi Ki Savaari, spoke about the pressure of taking forward the legacy of Hina Khan, Shivangi Joshi and Pranali Rathod.

The actress, while interacting with a portal, said that she was excited when she learned about bagging the role of Abhira. She stated that she felt the pressure of taking forward the legacy of the three actresses, who won hearts in YRKKH. "I know it is not going to be an easy task, but if I get the audience's support, I know I will be able to achieve it," Samridhi told ETimes.

Samridhii hoped to recreate the same magic as the three TV divas in Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai. YRKKH airs on Star Plus.
