EXCLUSIVE: Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai's Shivangi Joshi Confirmed For New Show As Disha Parmar Backs Out?

Shivangi Joshi new show: Ekta Kapoor is all set to launch a new show on Sony Entertainment Television after culmination of Indian Premiere League (IPL) 2023. The TV Czarina, who is successfully producing Kundali Bhagya, Kumkum Bhagya, Yeh Hai Chahatein, Naagin 6 and other successful shows on the small screen is ready to experiment with a different daily soap.

We had earlier informed you that Shivangi Joshi has been approached to play the lead role in the Sony TV show. It was said that Shivangi and Disha Parmar were in contention to essay the protagonist in the yet-to-be titled drama that will focus on the story of a ground journalist.

Disha, who was seen as Priya in Bade Achhe Lagte Hain 2, reportedly backed out of the project, citing personal reasons. After the Pyaar Ka Dard Hai Meetha Meetha Pyaara Pyaara politely declined the offer, gossip mills started buzzing with the rumours that Shivangi has been confirmed for the show.

A source close to the show exclusively told Filmibeat, "Shivangi fits the bill perfectly for the role of a journalist. She is one of the most popular actresses on television, and we believe that she is the right person for the character that we have envisioned."

"Shivangi Joshi is yet to sign the dotted lines for the show. Ekta Kapoor ma'am liked her cameo in Bekaboo, which she launched under her home production house. If things go as planned, we might Shivangi in the upcoming Sony TV show," the source added.

ON THE WORK FRONT

Shivangi Joshi was recently seen as a 'Pari' in Bekaboo, which airs on Colors channel. She made a special appearance in the first two episodes, building the base for the show. The TV diva is fondly known for her role of Naira in Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai. Her sizzling chemistry with Mohsin Khan grabbed several eyeballs for the hit daily soap.

After she left YRKKH, the actress went on to do shows like Balika Vadhu 2 and Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai.
