After refraining from commenting on the leap, Rajan Shahi revealed that a new season of Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai is on the cards. He spilled the beans on the new entry in the serial, stating that a veteran actress will be seen after the leap. Anita Raj, who played Nimrit Kaur Ahluwalia's mother in Choti Sarrdaarni, will play a pivotal role in the show.

Speculations were rife that Fahmaan Khan, Tejasswi Prakash, Helly Shah, Mahima Makwana, Anushka Sen and Randeep Rai were approached for the serial to play the new leads.

Filmibeat was once again quick enough to end the rumours and put them to rest. "Helly Shah is not doing Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai. Yes, she was approached for the serial but she is busy with new projects and hence, won't be able to take up a longtime fiction show. She would suit the bill perfectly but the makers are now looking for a fresh face for YRKKH," a source told Filmibeat.
