Thought About Committing Suicide: Comedian Kapil Sharma Talks About Depression, Had Suicidal Thoughts
Actor-comedian Kapil Sharma, who is currently busy promoting Nandita Das’ Zwigato, opened up about dealing with depression and revealed that he had suicidal thoughts.
Kapil
Sharma,
a
popular
actor-comedian,
is
eagerly
anticipating
the
release
of
his
upcoming
movie,
Zwigato.
His
previous
film,
Firangi,
which
was
released
in
2017,
did
not
perform
well
at
the
box
office,
leading
to
a
difficult
phase
in
his
life
as
he
struggled
with
depression
and
anxiety.
During
a
recent
interview
on
Aaj
Tak's
Seedhi
Baat,
Kapil
discussed
this
challenging
period
and
how
he
emerged
from
it
even
stronger.
COMEDIAN
KAPIL
SHARMA
TALKS
ABOUT
EXPERIENCING
DEPRESSION
Despite
being
loved
by
millions,
Kapil
felt
lonely
as
a
public
figure,
especially
when
he
returned
home.
He
couldn't
lead
a
normal
life
and
couldn't
even
sit
on
the
beach
and
watch
the
sea
due
to
his
celebrity
status.
When
he
was
alone
in
his
two-room
flat
at
night,
he
felt
an
overwhelming
sense
of
despair.
Kapil
eventually
overcame
this
difficult
phase
and
realized
that
nothing
in
life
is
permanent,
neither
happiness
nor
sadness.
However,
he
admitted
to
having
suicidal
thoughts
after
his
fight
with
Sunil
Grover
and
the
failure
of
Firangi,
feeling
that
he
had
no
one
to
confide
in.
Mental
health
was
not
a
topic
of
discussion
when
he
was
growing
up,
and
he
had
never
experienced
this
level
of
emotional
distress
before.
WHEN
KAPIL
SHARMA
THOUGHT
ABOUT
COMMITTING
SUICIDE
Talking
about
the
difficult
phase,
he
said,
"In
that
phase,
I
thought
about
committing
suicide.
I
thought
there
is
nobody
with
whom
I
can
share
what
I
feel.
The
place
where
I
come
from,
mental
health
is
not
something
that
is
discussed.
I
don't
think
this
was
the
first
time
that
I
went
through
this
phase.
Maybe,
during
childhood,
I
must
have
felt
low,
but
nobody
would
have
noticed."
But
Kapil
learned
from
this
experience,
and
he
believes
it
made
him
more
sensitive
to
the
motives
of
those
around
him.
He
discovered
that
being
sensitive
does
not
mean
being
foolish,
and
he
now
appreciates
the
little
things
in
life.
Nandita
Das'
Zwigato,
which
also
stars
Shahana
Goswami,
will
be
hitting
the
theatres
on
March
17.
