Ghum Hai Kisikey Pyaar Meiin Twist: From Ambitious To Aimless; Here's How Makers Messed Up Savi’s Character

Ghum Hai Kisikey Pyaar Meiin: When almost a year back GHKPM went for a 20 year leap, audiences were surprised to see a strong female character, Savi Chavan, who is determined to fulfill her parents' dreams of becoming a IPS officer. In the beginning, Savi was shown as strong-headed, selfless, and, more importantly, a television female character who dreams of having a career rather than waiting for her man. However, what started off as a strong ambitious character is now zeroed down to a woman who is so bogged down by her past that she is following the footsteps set by others with no real dreams of her own. Today we decode how the makers, in order to blatantly copy another successful show (Yeh Hai Mohabbatein), messed up a perfectly written strong character like Savi Chavan.
Ghum Hai Kisikey Pyaar Meiin: Savi's (Bhavika Sharma) Mockery of dreams
It's very rare that in the television industry you will come across a female character who doesn't dream about fairytale romance and is entirely focused on having a great career. Savi was the rare breed. She was clear that marriage and love can take a back seat, but fulfilling the dream of her parents, that of becoming an IPS officer, is utmost important to her. She ran from her wedding, slept hungry for days, cut all her family ties just to become an IPS officer. Post leap, when the makers showed Savi as a school teacher, it certainly was a mockery of her IPS dreams. Dreams do change, and sometimes you don't follow the path which you once decided for yourself, but the makers should at least give a logical reasoning as to why a woman whose only aim in life was to become an IPS officer is now a kindergarten school teacher.
In the last few episodes, it was shown that Savi, in spite of having no interest in getting married, agreed to an alliance just for the happiness of her mother-in-law turned mom, Isha. The girl who ran from her own wedding, fought with goons and terrorists, solved crimes suddenly, within five years has become so timid that even in the biggest decision of her life, she doesn't have her say.
Ghum Hai Kisikey Pyaar Meiin: From logical reasoning to annoying AF; The downfall of strong character
Honestly, whoever is writing the Rajat-Savi fight scenes may think in his or her head that the scenes are cute AF, but honestly, Savi sometimes comes across as an annoying woman who has eyes only on her neighbor's 3-year-old daughter. Although Rajat is arrogant, he talks less and just gets done with their arguments, but Savi is too interfering and comes out as an obsessive woman who wants to be the mentor, guide, and everything of Rajat's daughter Sai.
Television audience mostly has not been welcoming enough for strong characters, and that can be one of the reasons why makers thought that in order to garner more viewership, it's best in the interest of the show to follow the same old pattern and show that the female lead is shown as a helpless woman rather than a perfectly strong and realistic woman. We certainly miss old Savi, and we hope that at least a few characteristics of old Savi are embodied in the new version.
