International Dance Day EXCLUSIVE | Kumkum Bhagya Star Rachi Sharma On Love For Dance & Memories

International Dance Day Exclusive

International Dance Day Exclusive: International Dance Day, also known as World Dance Day, is a global celebration dedicated to honoring the art of dance and advocating for its diverse expressions as a universal treasure. This occasion serves to spotlight the intrinsic value of dance and empower dancers to share their creativity with broader audiences.

The concept of International Dance Day was developed by the Dance Committee of the International Theatre Institute (ITI), a key collaborator of UNESCO in promoting performing arts. Annually, the committee designates a distinguished choreographer or dancer to convey a special message to the worldwide dance community, emphasizing the importance of dance in fostering global connections.

This day encourages people to embrace dance for pleasure and spread the delight of movement with others. Every April 29 marks International Dance Day, and this year, in 2024, it is being celebrated today. Established in 1982 by the Dance Committee of the International Theatre Institute (ITI) in partnership with UNESCO Performing Arts, this day honors the birth of Jean-Georges Noverre, the pioneer of modern ballet.

Its inception aimed to celebrate the richness and variety of dance, acknowledging its power to bridge cultural divides and unite communities. TV actress Rachi Sharma, who essays the role of Poorvi in the Zee TV show Kumkum Bhagya opened up about her love for dance and memories attached to it.

Sharing her thoughts, she said, "I absolutely love dancing, it's a stress buster for me. As a teenager, I used to participate in many dance competitions during my school and college days. I still remember we had options to choose our hobby classes in school and I took up a dance class. I feel dancing is a way of expressing your feelings and a process of relaxation. Along with the classical dance form, I am also looking forward to learning the contemporary dance style. I loved participating in musical plays, and it used to be so much fun. As we celebrate International Dance Day today, let us embrace the universal language of movement that transcends borders and cultures."
