Kumkum Bhagya Fame Jia Narigara On Navratri: I Enjoy Offering Prayers While Performing Dandiya, Garba

Actress Jia Narigara known for featuring in TV show Kumkum Bhaygya talks about celebrating Navratri festivities. She reveals being fond of playing Garba and Dandiya.

She said, "Navratri is one of the most celebrated festivals across India, especially in the states of Gujarat (my hometown) and Maharashtra (I currently live in). The word "Navratri" literally translates to "Nine Nights," during which devotees' worship various forms of Goddess Durga. One of the highlights of this festival is the vibrant dance forms.. Garba and Dandiya that bring communities together for joyous celebrations. I enjoy offering my prayers to the Goddess while performing the folk dance."

She continued, "These traditional dances have their roots deeply embedded in Indian mythology and are performed to honor Goddess Durga. Dandiya Raas and Garba Raas are not just dance forms; they symbolise the mock-fighting between Goddess Durga and the demon Mahishasura, also known as the dance of swords. Their energetic rhythms and dynamic movements create an atmosphere of celebration, devotion, and reverence, making them an integral part of the Navratri festivities."

Talking about the significance of Durga festivities she shared, "Durga Puja celebrates goddess Durga's victory over the asura Mahishasura, symbolizing good triumphing over evil. It is also in part a harvest festival that celebrates the goddess as the motherly power behind all of life and creation."
