Latest TRP Ratings: Sony TV's FLOP SHOW Continues As Sumbul Touqeer's Kavya, Dabangii Plummet To 0.1 TRP

BARC TRP Ratings week 24: Friday (June 21) didn't bring any cheers for Sony Entertainment Television as the channel slipped further in the TRP race. While popular GECs like Star Plus and Colors TV are slowly and steadily recovering the lost viewership after IPL 2024 final, things don't look bright for Sony TV. Despire launching new shows and replacing older ones, the channel has failed to strike a chord with the audience.

The BARC TRP ratings for week 24 were released online on Friday, giving us an idea about what is working for the GECs. Star Plus has created the much-needed hype for Ghum Hai Kisikey Pyaar Meiin by introducing a leap and replacing the male lead Shakti Arora. Colors channel gained some momentum on weekends by launching Laughter Chefs, which got off to a good start. Laughter Chefs starring Nia Sharma, Karan Kundrra, Arjun Bijlani became the number one non-fiction show across all the GECs.

KAVYA TRP: SUMBUL TOUQEER SHOW DROPS TO 0.1

When you have a talented actress like Sumbul Touqeer, one expects the channel and the production house to ultiise her well. While the actors cannot guarantee good TRPs on their own, proper execution of the tracks is the responsibility of the makers. This is where the show is lacking.

Sorry, but Kavya and Dabangii both have failed to live up the hype. The shows, in particular Kavya, needs solid promotions as it has massive potential. However, the channel's failure to market it well has been a major reason behind the drop in viewership. It couldn't withstand the competition from IPL 2024, leave alone the daily soaps at 7:30pm.

The newest property Pukaar Dil Se Dil Tak has turnedout to be a flop as it getting a TRP of mere 0.2. Will Jubilee Talkies work wonders for the channel? Only time will tell. For the unversed, Jubilee Talkies will replace Dabangii from next week at 8pm.

SUPERSTAR SINGER 3 THE ONLY SAVING GRACE FOR SONY TV

Only Superstar Singer 3 seems to be working for Sony Entertainment Television as the other shows including Madness Machayaege have turned out to be big flops. The channel is launching India's Best Dancer 4 from next month. It remains to be seen if the dancing show can revive the fortunes of the channel, which is at rock bottom.

Madness Machayege fetched a TVR of just 0.3 on weekends. Sony TV folks need to do a proper market research if they wish to move ahead in the TRP race. Zee TV and Sony SAB have defeated the channel in the numbers game and even a free-to-air GEC like Dangal has overshadowed Sony TV in several key markets.
