To make this New Year even more auspicious, all the cast members of Shemaroo Umang and Shemaroo TV are all set to celebrate the first festivals of the year: Makar Sankranti, Uttarayan, and Lohri. Shemaroo Umang and Shemaroo TV's shows have left no stone unturned in winning the hearts of their audience. The lead actors of these shows shared their special memories related to the festival with the audience and shared many special details about its preparations.
- Sumati Singh - Kismat Ki Lakiro Se
Actress Sumati Singh, who portrays the lead role in Shemaroo Umang's show 'Kismat Ki Lakiro Se,' fondly reminisces about her childhood memories of Makar Sankranti. She shares, "Makar Sankranti is a special festival, and every festival holds its unique significance. During our younger days, there was a tradition in our house where all family members would wake up early to take a bath and place a black or white tika on their foreheads. It was a lot of fun participating in these rituals. Coming from the North, such customs were prevalent. Around this festival the weather used to be pleasant yet very cold. After getting ready, we all used to touch the feet of the elders, seeking their blessings. Together, we would then proceed to the terrace to light incense. We would sit there, relishing curd chuda, various types of sweets, and engage in flying kites together. The experience was filled with joy as we participated in kite fights with our neighbours. The experience used to be exhilarating as there were no study demands, making us even happier."
-Akshita Mudgal - Tulsidham Ke Laddu Gopal
Actress Akshita, the lead actress of Shemaroo TV's show 'Tulsidham Ke Laddu Gopal,' while sharing her experience of Makar Sankranti, said, "Makar Sankranti is such a delightful festival! In Maharashtra, we celebrate by flying vibrant kites and sharing sweet tilgul laddoos. The tradition of exchanging laddoos with the greeting 'Tilgul ghya god god bola' adds a special touch. Family get-togethers, the joy of distributing laddoos, and watching the colorful kites fill in the sky make this celebration truly memorable. While I may not be an expert at flying kites, I happily stand by, holding the firki, and soak in the beauty of the festivities."
She added, "Due to my busy schedule, I couldn't manage to prepare for the festival this year. In our family, my mom is the expert in making delicious Tilgul Laddoos, and she's taken charge of that. I used to be a part of the festival preparations, especially kite selection with my brothers. The Makar Sankranti craze in Maharashtra is something I look forward to every year."
-Vineet Kumar Choudhary - Karmadhikari Shanidevi
Actor Vineet Kumar Choudhary, who plays the lead role of Shani Dev in Shemaroo TV's popular show 'Karmadhikari Shanidev', refreshes his memories associated with Lohri and says, "In my hometown Delhi, we celebrate Lohri with lots of excitement. I still remember those days. Even now, we continue to celebrate Lohri with joy despite the cold weather in Delhi. Lohri is a special festival dedicated to the surya devta and Agni (fire). During this festival, we offer the new crops to Agni as a way of thanking the Gods. It's like a special treat for them. Although I can't be in Delhi this time, my friends and I will celebrate together through video calls. I wish everyone a wonderful day on this special occasion."
-Abhishek Pathania - Kismat Ki Lakiron Se
Actor Abhishek Pathania, who plays the lead role in Shemaroo Umang's popular show 'Kismat Ki Lakiro Se,' shared his memories of Lohri, he says, "Lohri is not just a festival for me, it's a cherished tradition that brings my family, friends, and hometown together in a celebration filled with warmth and joy. The anticipation starts a month before, and the preparations, from competitions to feasts, make it truly special. This year, I'm excited to break free from my busy schedule and visit my hometown, savoring the winter, meeting my parents, and soaking in the festivities. Lohri, with its rituals of worshiping Agni and sharing the first harvest, holds a unique place in my heart. It's more than a festival; it's a time to connect with roots and create lasting memories."
