Seema Kapoor On Modern Reading Experience I Still Prefer

As we celebrate National Book Lovers Day, it's only fitting to shine a spotlight on those who find solace, inspiration, and adventure within the pages of a book. Seema Kapoor, known for her roles in shows like Bidaai, Hasratein, Naagin, Hum Saath Aath Hain and Udaariyaan, is an avid reader and budding author, shares her journey into the world of books.

Seema's fondness for books began at a tender age. " I'm very fond of reading books, especially fiction & faith books. As a child, I possessed two storybooks on Cinderella and Snow White," she recalls. "But at the age of six, my Catholic neighbor gifted me a book by Enid Blyton on my birthday, and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. Since then, I went on perusing books endlessly and love it. I now have a huge collection."

This early introduction to literature sparked a lifelong passion for reading, one that has only grown over the years. Fiction, in particular, holds a special place in her heart, along with books on faith. The joy of discovering new worlds, characters, and perspectives keeps her engaged and excited to turn each page.

When asked about a book she has reread multiple times, Seema's answer comes without hesitation. "My favorite book is Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand. She is my favorite author, and I'm a proud owner of all her works. I've read Atlas Shrugged multiple times."

Her literary tastes have evolved over time, but certain titles remain close to her heart. She adds, "I used to read Sidney Sheldon before that, and my favorite was The Other Side of Midnight. I also enjoyed reading Godfather more than watching the film," highlighting the distinct pleasure that comes from immersing oneself in a book's intricate narrative.

In today's digital age, the way we consume literature has undergone a significant transformation. Seema acknowledges this shift, noting how the internet has affected traditional reading habits. "Yes, the book reading culture has reduced substantially because of the internet. I too now prefer to read stuff on Kindle, but I still prefer reading rather than audiobooks," she says.

While audiobooks have become increasingly popular, Seema remains loyal to the tactile experience of holding a book. "The feel of the book in hand is definitely appealing to me," she asserts.

Despite the convenience of digital reading devices like the Kindle, Seema's love for the physical book endures. "I am so fond of reading and writing that I've written a novel lately, which is partially fiction and partially my autobiography. I intend to publish it in the coming months," she reveals, hinting at an exciting new chapter in her literary journey.

In a world where digital media often dominates, the simple act of reading a book-whether it's a cherished classic or a new release-remains a source of joy, knowledge, and comfort.
