Exclusive! Nikitin Dheer On Playing Raavan In Shrimad Ramayan, "He Is Not A Black Character, He Is Grey"

We have seen many actors playing the role of Raavan in movies, TV shows, and web series. Actor Nikitin Dheer has joined them as he is seen portraying the character of Raavan in Sony TV's Shrimad Ramayan. Filmibeat recently interacted with Nikitin and spoke to him about the character.

There are many actors who say that when they play such dark characters it affects them mentally and they go into depression or just close themselves in a room for preparations, and more. When asked Nikitin about playing a dark character like Raavan and if he goes through such things, the actor said, "If you read about him, you will understand that Raavan is not a black character, he is grey. All his emotions were very heightened, and that was the stark difference between Raavan and Shri Ram. Shri Ram knew things, he used to think and speak, and do things after understanding it. But, Raavan was right there, his emotions were explosion, like love, anger, envy, everything was an explosion for him."

"His devotion towards Mahadev was also like nobody else. If you have read, he was someone who would cut one of his heads (from 10 heads), and cut his hand, and create a Veena and sing for Mahadev. So, it was that kind of devotion. He was was not black, he was grey. He reached a point where his ego took over and that caused his entire downfall. He was a king for a very long time, and that's why today also his mantras are used to praise Lord Shiva. So, once you read and understand the intricacy of the character, he is something which is a privilege for any actor to play because you land up learning so much about your Dharam and Sanskriti, your Bharat, your Gods, and basically human psyche. There's no emotion that Raavan lacks."

Nikitin Dheer Feels People Say Things For Sympathy

The actor frther said, "When I was offered this I was extremely happy and privileged, and the way Sidharth Kumar Tiwari has visualized the show, and he has presented Raavan in a way which is very different from what we have seen earlier. So, depression and all, I don't even think about such things. People say such things because they want sympathy."

While right now Nikitin is grabbing attention with his performance as Raavan, he was also seen in the OTT series Indian Police Force which started streaming on Amazon Prime Video last month.
