Siddhant Issar Commemorates Mahatma Gandhi's Lasting Influence On Modern Sustainability Movements
As we honour Mahatma Gandhi on his birth anniversary, Siddhant Issar highlights the relevance of Gandhi's ideologies of minimalism and sustainability in today's world.

As we commemorate the 155th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi on October 2nd, a day known as Gandhi Jayanti, it offers a moment to reflect on the enduring legacy of the leader who was pivotal in India's struggle for independence. Gandhi, renowned for his dedication to non-violence and simplicity, continues to inspire individuals across generations. Among those reflecting on Gandhi's contribution is Siddhant Issar, who is currently portraying the character of Maalik in Star Bharat's 'Shaitani Rasmein'.
Siddhant Issar, in his tribute to Gandhi, highlighted the timelessness of Gandhi's ideologies, particularly his commitment to minimalism and organic living, which resonate strongly with today's sustainability movements. "Mahatma Gandhi was ahead of his time. I believe he was a pioneer of minimalistic living and the use of organic products, which are so popular today. We now enjoy fancy eco-friendly resorts, but Gandhi's Sabarmati Ashram embodied that spirit with its simple, rustic furniture. He believed in Khadi, and today, everyone is excited about organic clothing. Gandhi ji promoted environmental protection long before it became famous in the West," Issar noted.
Issar also underscored the relevance of Gandhi's strategies in the age of social media, suggesting that Gandhi's methods of mobilizing public opinion and empowering individuals prefigured modern social media activism. "Social media and the power it gives to ordinary people is a blessing from Gandhi. Today, social media empowers youth and everyone to stand up against oppressors and express their opinions to pressure the system. It's hard to imagine our world without social media. Gandhi did something similar nearly a century ago and helped us win independence—he truly was a remarkable man."
In a world increasingly driven by digital communication, Issar's insights remind us of Gandhi's innovative approach to galvanizing support and fostering societal change. As we remember Gandhi's contributions to India and the world, it is clear that his teachings remain as relevant and powerful today as they were during his lifetime.
For those interested in exploring more of Siddhant Issar's work, 'Shaitani Rasmein' airs on Star Bharat from Monday to Saturday at 10 PM, offering viewers a glimpse into the talents of actors who draw inspiration from figures like Mahatma Gandhi.
