Pracchand Ashok off air reason: When Colors channel launched a show based on the life of Emperor Ashoka, TV buffs expected it to garner decent ratings. A show starring Siddharth Nigam had already performed well for the channel at 9pm in 2015-16. Ekta Kapoor joined hands with the leading GEC to showcase the love story of Ashok and Kaurwaki. However, the gamble didn't turn out to be a success.
PRACCHAND ASHOK TO GO OFF AIR?
According to a report in ETimes, the show featuring Adnan Khan and Mallika Singh will go off air next week. Despite the promising storyline and star-studded cast, the historical drama couldn't receive decent viewership.
Last month, our industry source informed us that Pracchand Ashok would face the axe. The news turned out to be true as the show is reportedly going off air on March 29. An industry source had exclusively told Filmibeat, "Every year Colors TV suffers a drop in numbers after Bigg Boss ends. This year is no different. However, the low opening TRP of Pracchand Ashok is something to worry about. Despite a star-studded cast and strong promotional campaign, the historical show has failed to live up to the hype. A TVR of less than 1 is definitely not what the channel expected."
The khabri had stated that Pracchand Ashok might turn out to be filler till Bigg Boss 18. However, the journey has been cut short even before the launch of Salman Khan's show. "If the makers introduce an intriguing storyline, the show can garner a TRP of 1.5. It all depends on the tracks, chemistry between leads. If not, then the show will be filler till Bigg Boss 18 launches on the channel," the source added.

Wondering why Pracchand Ashok is ending in two months? The channel took the drastic call after considering the low ratings of the show. While rival show Anupamaa is a TRP topper, Prachand Ashok has failed to even secure a TVR of 1. Considering the budget and prime time slot, the leading GEC was unhappy with the results and TRPs.
As the show failed to strike a chord with the audience, Colors TV decided to axe it in two months. The channel is yet to officially announce the replacement.
