Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai: Romiit Raaj, who has been part of many popular TV shows such as Thoda Hai Bas Thode Ki Zaroorat Hai, Kullfi Kumarr Bajewala, Maayka, and others, has been finalized to play the role of Rohit Poddar. Prior to Romiit, Shivam Khajuria was portraying the role of Rohit. While Romiit is gearing up for this new innings with Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, in an exclusive conversation with FilmiBeat, he revealed being aware of the backlash from avid fans of Shivam and how he is embracing both the positivity and negativity on social media.

When asked if he had any second thoughts about taking on Rohit's character initially played by another actor, Romiit said, "I never had any second thoughts. When Rajan sir told me I'll be playing Rohit, I just grabbed the opportunity. I mean, how could I miss an opportunity like this? I really wanted to work with Rajan Sir again. Yes, I know Shivam was portraying the character of Rohit and I've heard that he did a wonderful job. It's natural that his fans will be skeptical of me initially and I might also receive hatred, but I truly believe that's okay. When you're used to seeing someone in a specific character, you do get attached to that actor, and accepting another actor is a bit challenging."

He further added, "All I can say is I will work hard. Give me a chance too, and you will certainly appreciate my work as Rohit. Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai is my family's favorite show as well; everyone just adores it. As an actor, I want to face the camera every day, and when you get such a magnificent opportunity, it's nothing less than a blessing."

It is stated that Shivam will soon be seen in a new TV show by Rajan Shahi, this time in the role of the main lead. Hence, it was a mutual agreement between Shivam and the DKP team that Rohit's role would be portrayed by another actor.
