Yeh Rishta has remained in the headlines after the production house fired Shehzada Dhami and Pratiksha Honmukhe. Rajan Shahi accused them of unprofessionalism as he terminated their contract. He alleged that Shehzada misbehaved with the crew and threw tantrums on the sets. The Anupamaa producer claimed that he was unhappy with Pratiksha's performance as Roohi and hence, he ousted her from the show.

After Shehzada Dhami got fired, the makers replaced him with Rohit Purohit.
