Anupamaa: Massive Fire Destroys Set Hours Before Shoot; AICWA Seeks FIR Against Makers, Officials - VIDEOS
The fire at the Anupamaa set in Mumbai has raised significant concerns about safety protocols in film studios. The All Indian Cine Workers Association is demanding accountability and thorough investigations to prevent future incidents.

Anupamaa Set Fire: A devastating fire erupted on the set of the popular TV show Anupamaa in Mumbai's Film City early Friday morning. The blaze, which began around 5:00 AM, completely destroyed the set just two hours before filming was scheduled to start. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, but the incident highlights ongoing safety concerns in Mumbai's film studios.
The All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) has responded strongly to this incident. They have urged Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to initiate a high-level judicial inquiry into the fire. AICWA is also demanding the immediate suspension of Film City's Managing Director and Mumbai's Labour Commissioner for failing to enforce fire safety protocols.
Fire Safety Concerns Raised
Industry insiders have long pointed out that many studios neglect essential fire audits, putting countless workers and artists at risk daily. This incident adds to a worrying trend of frequent fires in Mumbai's film studios, exposing negligence by production teams and authorities in maintaining basic fire safety standards.
AICWA has called for criminal FIRs against not only the production house and television channel behind Anupamaa but also against Film City management and the Labour Department. They suspect that the fire might have been deliberately set to make false insurance claims, which would indicate a shocking disregard for human life.
Demands for Accountability
The association is also pushing for a comprehensive fire safety audit of all film sets and studios across Maharashtra. They insist that any producer or production house found violating fire safety regulations should be blacklisted immediately. With thousands of daily wage workers relying on safe working conditions, accountability is crucial.
Nearby sets narrowly avoided being engulfed by flames. If the fire had spread further, it could have resulted in a much larger tragedy. AICWA has expressed concerns that any actual casualties might be concealed to avoid public scrutiny and legal consequences.
Call for Immediate Action
AICWA stresses that without decisive action, lives will continue to be endangered in pursuit of entertainment. The association demands thorough investigations to confirm whether any lives were lost in this incident and insists on holding those responsible accountable.
The need for stringent enforcement of safety measures has never been more urgent. The association believes that strong measures are necessary to prevent such incidents from recurring and endangering lives unnecessarily.
