Ashita Dhawan: I’ve Been Misunderstood, Especially By Some Fans And The General Public

Ashita Dhawan, who has been a part of shows like Sapna Babul Ka...Bidaai, Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, Imlie, Krishna Mohini, and Mera Balam Thanedaar, to name some, and is currently seen in Prem Leela on Dangal, says that as a celebrity, she has been misunderstood, and people thought she carried an attitude with her, and she has been trolled also on some occasions; however, she is not one to bother about these things.

She shared, "I've definitely been misunderstood, but not because I have an attitude. In fact, many people have told me, 'Even after being an actress, you're so well-spoken and kind. We don't usually see people like you.' So yes, I've been misunderstood, especially by some fans and the general public, mostly by the fanbases of various YouTubers or influencers. They misunderstand and sometimes troll me, and earlier it did affect me a little. But now, not so much."

"I've realized that these are faceless people; most of them don't even have a mind of their own. Maybe they're even being paid to say certain things. So now I understand that their judgment, their trolling, and their misunderstandings shouldn't affect me," she added.

She further revealed that she has never faced any disadvantage in public for being a known face or a celebrity. She said, "In fact, the way I am, people usually treat me with even more love and respect. Like, even if I'm standing in a queue, someone will sweetly say, 'You can go ahead, please.' So honestly, it's always worked in my favor. And I think one of the reasons for that is my nature."

"I'm humble, honest, and very warm when people approach me. Whether it's a man or woman, I connect with them instantly, on a human level. If someone needs help, I don't hesitate; even if they haven't asked, I'll step in and help. And then they realize, 'Oh, she's an actor!' So, I just stay the way I am whether I'm in public or not; being a celebrity doesn't change how I behave. That's why I haven't faced any real disadvantages so far," she added.

A celebrity who has inspired you in your life? "I am completely inspired by Shah Rukh Khan and Shefali Shah. Shah Rukh Khan, because I've learned one thing from him: he is very spontaneous, and I really like that about him. Somewhere, that quality is also in me-the spontaneity and the energy he has. So, maybe I am inspired by him, and by following that same spontaneous and energetic approach, I try to bring that into my own life as well and Shefali Shah because the nuances she brings in her performance," Ashita ended.
