Bidaai Star Sara Khan: My Phone Is Like My Little World

Actress Sara Khan says that her phone is her window to the world. She says that she does consider putting her phone away for a while, but that can get very challenging.
"My phone is like my little world-work, social life, entertainment, everything is in there. From checking emails to scrolling through social media, my screen time is quite high. But I do try to balance it. Some days, I consciously put my phone away to be more present in real life. It's not easy, though!"
The Internet, especially social media, has its benefits. However, overindulging in them is a big problem these days, says the actress. "Social media is great,it connects us, entertains us, and even helps us professionally. But definitely yes, overindulgence is a big issue. The constant need to check notifications, compare our lives to others, or seek validation can be exhausting. I think it's important to use social media mindfully. Enjoy it, but don't let it control you. I've learned that taking short breaks from it helps in keeping a healthy balance," she adds.
Life can be incomplete without your phone, she says, adding, "We are so glued to our screens that we miss out on the little joys of life-watching the sunset, having deep conversations, or simply enjoying our own company. Phones are useful, but they do affect our mental health when we overuse them. The overstimulation, the pressure to keep up, and the distractions make it hard to stay disciplined. I try to be more conscious about setting limits, especially before bedtime, because a good night's sleep is more important than any late-night scrolling session!"
She adds, "Since everyone has a phone, there's an unspoken rule that we must always be available. If someone doesn't reply quickly, misunderstandings happen. It affects both personal and professional relationships. I believe we need to be more understanding, people have their own schedules, moods, and priorities. Not every unread message means ignorance, and not every missed call means avoidance. Communication is key, but so is patience!"
