“Discounts Are the Biggest Fraud — Buy Only What You Truly Need,” Says Actor Saanand

Discounts Are the Biggest Fraud Buy Only Says Saanand

Actor Saanand, known for his sharp wit and candid opinions, has opened up about the rising culture of excessive consumerism and the dangerous lure of social-media-driven purchasing. Speaking about modern spending habits, Saanand said, "There's no doubt that modern society pushes people to buy far more than they actually need and encourages them to show off. Thanks to social media, this tendency has only increased."

Admitting that his own financial management has not always been ideal, he shared, "All my life I've been a bad financial manager, but now I'm gradually learning how to improve it. I always advise everyone to enjoy life but also save. Saving is necessary."

Saanand strongly criticised the online discount culture and the psychology behind impulsive buying. Calling discount promotions a "complete fraud," he added, "If a shoe worth ₹10,000 is sold for ₹2,000, either it was never worth ₹10,000 or they are still making profit. Both ways, it's a scam." According to him, such inflated pricing and fake markdowns are nothing but marketing traps designed to fool buyers.

He warned that unnecessary purchases not only drain money but also harm mental health and identity. "No matter how good your exterior looks, if your interior is disturbed, your life is meaningless. You may wear a watch worth lakhs, but if you're unhappy inside, your time is bad."

The actor urged people, especially the youth, to differentiate between needs and wants. "Just check what you haven't used in the past year - that was wasteful spending. Buy only what you need and use regularly."

He also stressed the environmental impact of consumerism, saying that the more people shop mindlessly, the more waste the planet is forced to bear.

Sharing his own minimalist choices, Saanand revealed, "I still drive my nine-year-old car. It works perfectly. Why should I change it?" He believes that simplicity is not only sustainable but also contributes to a healthier lifestyle.

Encouraging young minds to adopt mindful buying habits, he said, "Don't waste your life on online shopping. Adopt minimalism. Focus on internal happiness and spirituality. That will make life truly better in the future."
