Doree Actress Moon Banerrjee On International Women’s Day 2025: I Am My Biggest Cheerleader And Inspiration

With International Women's Day approaching soon, Moon Banerrjee, who has been part of shows like Chashme Baddoor, Abhimaan, Ghar Ek Mandir, Kasautii Zindagii Kay, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Muskaan, Sasural Simar Ka 2, and Doree, to name a few, says she is her biggest cheerleader and idolises herself.

"I definitely look up to myself. To begin with, I think the way I have effortlessly sailed the multitasking space is commendable, and I am my biggest cheerleader, so yes, 'me' and all the women I know have left an impact on me. I look up to all; as they say, it's a man's world, and it's definitely difficult being a woman in today's world," she said.

Speaking of a character that has deeply resonated with her, she said it was Asha Bose in the TV show Kuch Rang Pyar Ke. But she feels that though the portrayal of women on-screen is changing, she said that is changing; there is still a long way to go.

"The process is pretty slow, but it's happening, although we are still bound by a particular formula, and sadly we follow the norm, but there are some makers who are making an effort to experiment. Also, I would like to see more respect and inclusivity for female actors in the industry," she said.

And what about payment disparity in the television industry? "I don't know whether it's gender or what, but there is a certain pay disparity in general in the business these days. Commercials are falling drastically, and it's deeply saddening, especially after being invested for more than two decades.

Moon went on to say that social media is a space free from gender bias and disparity. She said, "I feel it's a very modern and progressive space."
