Nishi Saxena Shares Thoughts on Smriti Irani's Remarks Regarding Anupamaa Vs KSBKBT 2: It’s Not About...
Nishi Saxena comments on the ongoing comparisons between Anupamaa and Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, appreciating past contributions while recognising current efforts in television storytelling.

In a recent discussion, Nishi Saxena, known for her role as Dimpy in the television series Anupamaa, shared her views on the ongoing comparisons between her show and the iconic Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. This comes after Smriti Irani, who starred in the latter, made notable comments about its enduring legacy.
Smriti Irani recently returned to television as Tulsi in the reboot of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. Addressing comparisons with Anupamaa and its lead Rupali Ganguly, she told India Today that she doesn't see them as competition. "I don't look at them as competition. When somebody gets to number 30 in terms of TRPs, then you can be our competition, right? We were there 25 years ago. If you have the capacity to be remembered for 25 years, then we will talk about competition," she said.
Legacy and Evolution in Television
Nishi expressed her admiration for Smriti Irani and her generation of actors. She remarked that each era brings unique contributions to television. "I have immense respect for Smriti ma'am and for what her generation of actors created. But every era brings something new. Today's actors are working equally hard to connect with audiences in their own way. It's not about comparison it's about evolution. Every story and every actor has their own space and time," Nishi told News18.
While Smriti proudly highlighted Kyunki's timeless legacy, Nishi's response offers a refreshing perspective on the natural evolution of television storytelling acknowledging both the foundation laid by past icons and the efforts of today's generation to keep connecting with audiences in new ways.
The Timeless Impact of Kyunki
Smriti further emphasized the enduring benchmark set by Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. She stated that it is unfair to compare newcomers with established icons like herself. "You can't have somebody who's just started something and say, 'Compete with Smriti Irani.' The fact that we've had competitive mediums and yet managed to come back after 25 years that's remarkable," she added.
Nishi's remarks highlight how today's actors strive to engage audiences uniquely while respecting past achievements. Her perspective underscores an appreciation for both historical contributions and contemporary efforts in television storytelling.
