Prateik Chaudhary Stands Up For The Medium That Made Him: Why Do People Look Down On TV?

Actor Prateik Chaudhary, who was previously seen in projects like Paramavatar Shri Krishna, Becharey Season 1 and 2, Sindoor Ki Keemat (lead), Devil Se Shaadi (lead) for Pocket FM, Tose Naina Milaike (lead), and the micro-series Badass Elite, faced his biggest challenge at the beginning of his career - convincing his parents about his choice of profession.
He said, "Coming from a Marwari family, after my graduation in 2015, I got into business with my dad. It was a new venture, completely set up by me. I did that for three years, until 2018. The work was going well, the money was good, but there was no work satisfaction at all. I always wanted to do something different in life-something extraordinary."
"Acting had always been at the back of my mind, but I was unsure because no one in my family had ever pursued it. Everyone's either into business, or they're doctors and engineers. So dropping this 'acting bomb' in front of my family wasn't easy. I used to think, 'What if I don't succeed?' I didn't want to fail in front of my parents. I've always been very practical and sensible about my goals and life decisions. But one fine day, I decided to quit my business and finally broke the news to my parents. Luckily, they were extremely supportive-and here I am today," he added.
He was always interested in doing TV and started giving auditions for daily soaps. He raised an important question and asked why some people look down on TV. He added, "I personally love it. Whatever I am today is all because of television. After all, we know some of the country's biggest superstars, like Shah Rukh Khan and the late Sushant Singh Rajput, also started their journey with TV."
His first show was a cameo role as a parallel lead in Paramavatar Shri Krishna on &TV. "It was just for a few days, but yes-that was my first daily soap. It wasn't a major role, but it was special and definitely a learning experience," he said.
Having spent a fair amount of time in the industry, he confessed that all his roles and shows are very dear to him and he can't choose just one. He added, "It's like asking a parent to choose their favorite child-you just can't. Every project has contributed to who I am today. I've poured my blood and sweat into each one. So for me, every project is special in its own way."
"Whenever I take on a role, I make sure to give it more than 100%. That's just who I am. Either I don't do something at all, or if I do, I go all in. That's why every character and project I've worked on is very, very close to my heart," Prateik ended.
