Shefali Jariwala, known for her iconic dance in 'Kaanta Laga', battled epilepsy and anxiety throughout her life, significantly affecting her career choices. Despite her struggles, she found strength and support in her personal life.

Actor Shefali Jariwala, who passed away at 42 on Friday night, had previously shared her struggles with epilepsy and anxiety. Her health challenges began in her teenage years, affecting her career choices. Her body was sent to Cooper Hospital for a postmortem examination.

Jariwala gained fame as the 'Kaanta Laga' girl due to her iconic dance video. However, she revealed that epilepsy seizures hindered her ability to take on more work. "After I did 'Kaanta Laga', people asked me why I didn't do more work. I can now say that it was because of the epilepsy seizures that I couldn't take up much work. I didn't know when I would get my next seizure... this went on for 15 years," she explained.

Health Challenges and Career Impact

In an interview with ETimes, Jariwala recounted experiencing a seizure at 15 while under academic pressure. She noted the connection between stress, anxiety, and seizures: "I had an epilepsy seizure at the age of 15. I remember at that time, I was under tremendous pressure to do well in my studies. Stress and anxiety can lead to seizures. It's interrelated, you could get a seizure due to depression and vice versa," she said.

The actor's health issues extended beyond adolescence, impacting her self-esteem and professional life. She experienced seizures in various settings like classrooms and backstage during performances. "I have got seizures in classrooms, backstage, while on roads, and somewhere that lowered my self-esteem," she said.

Personal Life and Support System

Jariwala married actor Parag Tyagi in 2014 after parting ways with singer Harmeet Singh in 2009. Despite not disclosing if she fully overcame epilepsy, she mentioned improved resistance against episodes: "I am proud of myself because I managed my depression, panic attacks and anxiety naturally and with the help of a strong support system," she concluded.

Shefali Jariwala also participated in reality shows like 'Bigg Boss' and 'Nach Baliye', making her a familiar face in the music and TV industry.
