Smita Sinkar On Playing Uma In Rahul Kumar Tewary s Jagadhat

Actress Smita Sinkar, who is currently seen in Rahul Kumar Tewary's new show Jagadhatri on Zee TV, opened up about her experience being part of the much-awaited drama and what drew her to her character, Uma.

"It feels great and wonderful to work under Rahul Kumar Tewary's production. His stories always have so much depth and heart, and I am genuinely thrilled to be a part of Jagadhatri. I'm extremely thankful to Rahul sir for giving me this opportunity," shared Smita.

Speaking about what initially drew her to the project, she said, "When I first heard the story of Jagadhatri, I was honestly moved. It's an undercover cop story that beautifully shows the duality of a simple girl next door who transforms into someone powerful and determined. That contrast really excited me."

Smita portrays Uma, a dignified and strong woman who anchors her family with love and grace. "I felt an instant connection with Uma. She's someone who leads with love and quiet strength. She's made mistakes in the past but always thought of her family first. The values she holds close are the same ones she's instilled in Maya. What drew me most to her was her calm power-she doesn't need to raise her voice to be strong. Her strength lies in her composure, her dignity, and her love for her family," she explained.

On preparing for the role, Smita said, "I focused on bringing out that quiet dignity and inner strength. Uma expresses so much without words-through her eyes, her gestures, her silence. I observed women who hold their families together with patience and grace. It wasn't so much research as it was about feeling her essence-the strength that comes from love, not power."

Sharing her experience on set, Smita added, "It's been wonderful working on this show. The energy on set is so positive-everyone is dedicated and supportive. It genuinely feels like a family. Even on intense shooting days, we share so many laughs between takes that it never feels heavy."

She also expressed her joy at sharing screen space with an experienced ensemble. "Working with such well-known and experienced actors in itself is a great opportunity and a huge learning experience. Every day on set feels like a masterclass. I truly feel blessed and grateful," Smita said with a smile.

Talking about what makes Jagadhatri stand out, she said, "It's not just another family drama. It's a story about strength, values, and womanhood in the truest sense. I'm loving how the promos have turned out-it's exactly how I think Rahul sir must have envisioned it."

Smita believes the show will leave audiences deeply moved. "Jagadhatri will make people feel empowered. It shows that even someone from a simple background can possess immense strength and courage. It's about standing up for what's right, about faith and self-belief. I think that message will really stay with viewers," she said.

As the show unfolds, Smita promises even more to look forward to. "The journey of Jagadhatri has just begun. Expect strong emotions, unexpected twists, and some truly beautiful family moments. The bond between Jagadhatri and Aaji, and the strength of the Deshmukh family, will touch hearts. It's only going to get more powerful from here. So, keep watching Jagadhatri on Zee TV every Sunday to Monday at 10 PM."
