”Support What’s Made in India”: Ravie Dubey Calls for a Return to Indian Storytelling

At the launch of Tu Aashiiki Haii and Haale Dil, actors-producers Sargun Mehta and Ravie Dubey marked a new chapter for their platform, Dreamiyata Dramaa. The shows, both original dramas, aim to tap into the emotional depth that once defined Indian television.
Speaking at the event, Ravie Dubey shared a passionate appeal to the industry: "We're doing what we've always done-telling stories rooted in our culture. These shows are completely made-in-India, and I believe it's time we back our own content again."
When quizzed about Pakistani dramas being banned in India, Dubey stated, "Arey Indian shows Dekho Na! Whether certain dramas have stopped or not, whatever the situation may be, I would still encourage all players in the market to come forward, create Indian shows, and support their consumption. I urge you to embrace and consume content that is made in India. Help it grow-because if you nourish it, we will all grow together."
Dubey didn't shy away from addressing the current landscape, where international dramas from countries like Korea, Pakistan, and Turkey dominate online conversations. "There was a time when Indian dramas inspired a whole generation. Before global content took over, shows like as Swabhimaan were shaping how we saw relationships, society, even ourselves."
While acknowledging the creative limitations of daily television formats, he remained hopeful: "Yes, the pressure of everyday telecast can dilute storytelling. We know that firsthand. But despite the constraints, there's still room to tell meaningful stories. We just have to choose to make them."
In a direct message to fellow creators and audiences, he added, "Create Indian shows. Watch them. Support them. If we nurture our ecosystem, we all grow."
