Despite overwhelming love from audiences, Disha Vakani has been on hiatus since 2017 following her maternity break. The actress quit Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah (TMKOC) as she was pregnant and was expecting her first child with husband Mayur Padia. Later, the actress made an appearance on the show virtually in one of the episodes where Jethalal was talking to her over a video call.

During a recent conversation with ETimes, TMKOC producer Asit Kumarr Modi spilled beans on Dayaben aka Disha Vakani's return to the show. Talking about it, he said, "The viewers who constantly ask about Daya Bhabhi's comeback are absolutely right. Disha ji truly left a lasting impact. Even though it's been eight years since she was last seen, her character still lives on in the hearts of the audience."

Modi has further added that it isn't as simple as it looks. "Disha ji's role overpowered the character. Bringing her back isn't simple, though, and it takes time and the right circumstances (sic)", he was quoted.

For those unversed, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah has been painting the top position in the TRP list for four consecutive weeks now.
