Are Reality Shows 'Scripted'? Terence Lewis Exposes Truth
In a recent conversation with Pinkvilla, celebrated choreographer-dancer and dance reality show judge Terence Lewis exposed the shocking reality behind the so-called non-scripted reality shows. Revealing the actual truth, he also admitted how some moments are deliberately created.
During the interview, when the celeb choreographer was shown a throwback picture of him dancing with Deepika Padukone from his Dance India Dance Li'l Masters days, he revealed that he was asked to create a 'moment' on stage.
Getting candid on the scripted aspect of reality shows, Terence was quoted saying, "These are not our wishes. A lot of people think that we want to dance, but we are told to create a moment (laughs). So when you say 'Things are scripted.' Yes, this is scripted. Interaction with the guests, and contestants. Dance is not scripted. Judgment is not scripted. That is honest and true. The talent is not scripted, and the comments are not scripted. But the rest that will look good on television, and it will give a promo moment so that all. (sic)"
Recalling the viral dance moment, Terence revealed that Deepika was unaware of the situation and they had to improvise on spot. "Television is unforgiven. There is no time and budget," he added.
Terence Lewis Makes Shocking Revelations About Reality Shows TRP Game
Talking about the TRP rating game, Terence Lewis admitted that some of the moments, like him helping actresses arrive on stage, are 'fully scripted'. He quipped, "I would never do that. In 8 years of judging, I have never gone and got a contestant and said 'Please ma'am.'"
Revealing further, the choreographer confessed they are asked to 'create' moments for the boost of TRP ratings. "It's sad to say, but the highest ratings came from moments of masti. So, ultimately, the audience is to be blamed because they enjoy it," he stated.
