CID 2 ending or not: Sony Entertainment Television launched CID 2 with much expectations, hoping that it would generate decent viewership. However, the numbers have dipped to 0.4 TVR, which has resulted in major changes in the storyline. While the cast and crew are working hard to deliver a solid product, the TRPs have been disappointing.

Gossip mills have been buzzing with the rumours that Sony TV might axe CID season 2 after Parth Samthaan's exit due to the falling TRPs. The Kasautii Zindagii Kay 2 actor was brought on board to spice up the ratings as the creative team planned a special track. However, he had to make an exit as the numbers didn't rise much.

"Despite initial promise and buzz, the crime thriller has failed to strike a connection with the audience. The initial nostalgia seems to have faded out as the numbers have dropped significantly since the first episode in December. The channel and the production house have attempted all measures to spice up the viewership. Parth Samthaan's entry didn't fetch much numbers for the show," an industry expert told Filmibeat.

There was a discussion about the channel making changes to CID season 2. The entry of characters like Shreya, Tarika didn't yield much results as the show struggled to get ratings during the weekend slot. The show is doing well on OTT as SonyLIV and Netflix have seen a surge in their viewership for CID season 2.

Only the numbers have been low on Sony TV, which is a sign of worry.

"While Shivaji Satam's exit and ACP Pradyuman's death mystery created buzz on social media, the numbers didn't witness a significant rise. Sony Entertainment Television is not pleased with the ratings of the show, and is thinking of ending CID 2 at the right time. Although the production house has not received any notice from the channel, there has been internal discussion about axing CID season 2 due to low TRPs," the khabri added.

We contacted a reliable source from the channel, who, on condition of anonymity, confirmed that CID season 2 is not ending. "Contrary to the rumours floating on the internet, CID 2 is not ending. Yes, it is under the scanner but the channel is monitoring the TRPs and has not taken any decision about the show's future. ACP Pradyuman and his team will continue to entertain the audience as the show has a contract for one-year."

CID 2 airs on weekends at 10pm on Sony TV.
