Anupamaa Actress Adrija Roy: Every New Experience In Life Adds Depth To My Performance

Anupamaa actor Adrija Roy opened up about her craft that has evolved as she has gained experience in both her personal and professional life. She mentioned that her ongoing show has given her the opportunity to explore more in terms of expressions and emotions, which has added weight to her character Raahi.

She said, "Since the time I joined Anupamaa, my character Raahi has given me the chance to show many different layers of my personality. In one single show, I got to explore versatility in one chapter of my journey."

"As I grow as a person, my understanding of emotions, relationships, and life also grows, and that reflects in my acting. I feel I am becoming more patient, more observant, and more confident in taking on challenges. Every new experience in life adds depth to my performance," she added.

She also stressed the need for continuous reinvention as an actor, especially in today's fast-changing entertainment landscape. She said, "Reinvention is very important. An actor has to evolve with time because the audience's taste also keeps changing. If you keep repeating the same thing, people may lose interest."

"Trying new roles, learning new skills, and stepping out of your comfort zone helps you stay relevant and excited about your work," she added.

Adrija remarked that acting is not only about playing a character on-screen but also about being a good person off-screen. She said, "An actor should always keep working on their craft and keep learning. Good communication skills, adaptability, and emotional strength will also help in the long run. Staying grounded even after success is essential. Along with that, discipline, patience, and professionalism matter a lot."

When questioned about the industry becoming more open to experimentation, she shared, "Today, content is king. With the rise of OTT platforms and many different mediums, writing and storytelling have become very important."

She explained that makers are now ready to take risks and create layered and realistic characters. She said, "Audiences also want something fresh and meaningful, not just typical stories. So, experimentation is slowly becoming a good and accepted change."

She also believes with the digital boom, actors have gotten more opportunities and wider reach. She said, "We are living in an era where there are many platforms: TV, OTT, films, and digital content. With just one click on a mobile phone, people can watch anything."

"This gives actors more opportunities and a wider reach. But the flip side is that there are too many options for the audience. Only engaging and honest content can hold their attention and help an actor build a long-lasting career," she added.

However, she feels that actors have the power to influence the society as well, and they should be responsible when picking stories. "Choosing stories that talk about real issues, strong values, and positive change is important. Even simple stories can leave a deep impact if they are honest. I feel actors should try to balance entertainment with meaningful messages so that the audience not only enjoys but also learns something," Adrija ended.
