Anupamaa Star Adrija Roy On Monsoon: The Rain Reminds Me That Life Doesn't Always Have To Be In A Hurry

For actress Adrija Roy, the monsoon has never been just another season. It is the one time of the year when life seems to slow down on its own. Between hectic shooting schedules and long working hours, she says the rains give her a rare opportunity to pause and appreciate the little things that often go unnoticed.

"I've never looked at the monsoon as just another season," she says. "There is something very comforting about it. The weather becomes softer, the air feels fresh, and even people seem a little less rushed. I really enjoy that change of pace."

Looking back, Adrija says some of her happiest childhood memories are connected to the rain.

"I wasn't thinking about getting wet or catching a cold," she says with a laugh. "I only remember how exciting everything felt. Even now, whenever it rains, those memories come back without any effort. I think that's the beauty of childhood-you don't realise you're creating memories until years later."

These days, her idea of a perfect rainy day is much quieter.

"If I'm lucky enough to have a day off, I don't want to be anywhere except home," she says. "I make myself a cup of coffee, put my phone away for a while, and enjoy doing simple things. Sometimes I'll cook, sometimes I'll read, and sometimes I'll just sit quietly. We spend so much time trying to be productive that we forget how relaxing it is to do nothing."

When asked about a song that instantly reminds her of the season, she doesn't have to think twice.

"Bheegi Bheegi Raaton Mein has always been special for me," she says. "It's one of those songs that never feels old. Every time it plays, it somehow matches the mood outside. I don't know how to explain it, but some songs simply become a part of your memories."

Food is another thing she closely associates with the monsoon, although her choice is surprisingly simple.

"I'll always choose homemade khichdi with a little ghee, papad, and pickle," she says. "It may not sound fancy, but that's exactly why I love it. It reminds me of family, home, and those peaceful afternoons when everyone sat together without looking at the clock."

When she gets a break from work, Adrija hopes to spend a monsoon holiday in Shillong.

"I've always loved places that are quiet and surrounded by nature," she says. "Shillong looks magical during the rains. I think spending a few days there, away from the noise and constant notifications, would be the perfect reset."

For the actress, that is the real charm of the season.

"Monsoon reminds me that life doesn't always have to move so fast," she concludes. "Sometimes the best memories are made when you're doing nothing at all-just listening to the rain, taking a deep breath, and enjoying the moment you're in."
