Debattama Saha: Actors Have More Space To Explore Different Kinds Of Roles Across Platforms

Debattama Saha plays the lead role of Heer in Ishika Shahi's new show Heer Sharma Gayi. Produced by Rajan Shahi under his banner, Director's Kut Production, it will stream on their official YouTube channel. The actress believes that with so many entertainment mediums available today, it gives actors more to explore in diverse roles.

She said, "Digital platforms are definitely a game-changer. Earlier, opportunities were limited, especially on OTT, but now actors have more space to explore different kinds of roles across platforms. Audiences also get to discover actors through social media, which makes a huge difference in today's generation."

Talking specifically about the project, she shared that it had its own perks. She said, "Television can sometimes become very routine-based and rushed because of daily telecasts. Here, although it was still hectic, we had comparatively more time and a shorter schedule, which made the process more enjoyable and less mechanical."

Heer Sharma Gayi will see her opposite Tushar Dhembla, and Debattama revealed that she had a great time working with him. She said, "I usually keep things quite neutral on set, but with him, it felt very natural. He's a genuinely kind person and made me feel very comfortable. It never felt like we were working together for the first time, and by the end, everything was very easy and chill."

Dancing is something she truly enjoys, and she confessed that the dance sessions were very special for her. She said, "Even though we had hectic schedules and had to practice after long shoot hours, I enjoyed every bit of it. Also, the script readings and the overall cheerful vibe on set made it a memorable experience."

She had a great experience working with Ishika and said, "Our director and Ishika Shahi have been incredible. Ishika really listens and tries to understand your perspective, which I truly appreciate. There are very few people you can openly talk to, and I found that comfort here."
