EXCL Ishita Dixit Questions Meaning of Republic Day

Talking about her childhood, Ishita recalled how Republic Day once filled her with joy and pride. She shared, "As a child, I used to really enjoy Republic Day and everything around it. We would celebrate it in school, carry flags, and feel proud." Those early memories, according to her, were simple, hopeful, and full of excitement.

However, the actress admitted that her feelings have changed with time. Reflecting on the present situation, she said, "But honestly, today I find myself questioning what Republic Day truly means anymore. There are so many disturbing incidents happening around us - crimes against women, rape cases, and heartbreaking tragedies." Ishita also spoke about a recent incident in Delhi, adding, "A young man drowned even though police were present, yet no one stepped in to save him."

Expressing concern over society's changing mindset, Ishita said, "I feel that as time passes, people are losing their sense of sympathy and empathy. It feels like no one truly cares about anyone anymore." She pointed out how violence has become more common, stating that stabbings, sexual crimes, and brutal attacks are happening openly. Mentioning a recent case, she shared, "Just recently, a 45-year-old woman in Haryana was brutally gang-raped by five men."

Summing up her emotions, Ishita said that looking at the country and its current reality makes her deeply sad. While Republic Day is a moment of celebration, she believes it should also be a time for reflection, responsibility, and restoring humanity - values that truly give meaning to the day.
