From Replacement To Fan Favorite: How Vasudha Star Parineeta Borthakur Made Chandrika Her Own - Exclusive

Actor Parineeta Borthakur opens up on stepping into Chandrika Singh Chauhan's shoes and making the role her own after replacing Nausheen Ali Sardar. Vasudha has climbed to the No. 1 spot on the Hindi GEC television rating charts for the last two weeks, marking a strong run for the show.

A big part of the recent momentum has been attributed to the entry of Parineeta Borthakur as the fierce matriarch Chandrika Singh Chauhan. The actor stepped into the role after Nausheen Ali Sardar, who originally played the character, exited the show.

Speaking about the audience response since joining the show in July last year, Parineeta said she was taken aback by the warmth she received.

"I'm truly overwhelmed by the love and response I've received. Since joining in July, now nearly ten months in, the audience has welcomed me so warmly," she said.

"I know the replacement was a big step, but the show is doing so well. Initially I followed the mannerisms but after that I just approached the role as I always would, from the start-balancing Chandrika Singh Chauhan's strength with her motherly nature. And the love from the audience, it's just indescribable. I'm beyond grateful."

On preparing for the role, the actor revealed she did study Nausheen's performance initially to maintain continuity.

"Initially, I watched the first set of episodes to understand the mannerisms and the chemistry with the other characters. Then, I revisited the episodes that were airing at that time. At first, I followed those mannerisms as closely as I could, but gradually, I crafted the character in my own way," she shared.

"There was never real confusion; I did have confidence in myself. I knew I could do it. The only uncertainty was whether the audience would accept me and I'm just so happy they have."
