Ganga Mai Ki Betiyan Dowry Track: Shubhangi Latkar Says Relationships Must Be Built On Respect
The show Ganga Mai Ki Betiyan addresses the dowry practice, illustrating how financial demands test family dignity and how characters respond with resilience, empowerment, and moral choices. The storyline emphasises respect, self worth, and brave stand against coercive traditions, aligning drama with social awareness.
Zee TV show Ganga Mai Ki Betiyan is tackling the dowry issue in its latest storyline, drawing attention to how financial demands can crush a family’s dignity. The track centres on Ganga Mai, played by Shubhangi Latkar, who is pushed to mortgage her house to satisfy Sahana’s mother-in-law, exposing the emotional cost of such practices.

The narrative follows Ganga Mai’s turmoil as Sahana, portrayed by Srishti Jain, faces unreasonable demands from the marital home. Shubhangi Latkar reveals that filming these intense moments is emotionally heavy, as the scenes mirror real situations many families still face, and the role demands both vulnerability and resilience on screen.
Ganga Mai Ki Betiyan dowry track and Shubhangi Latkar’s performance
Reflecting on Ganga Mai’s journey, Shubhangi shares, " As an actor, I try to honestly portray her helplessness as well as her inner strength. It's a reminder of how deeply rooted such social pressures can be. At the same time, her journey reflects courage and hope for change." The scenes aim to show pain, but also resistance and gradual empowerment.
Shubhangi, who is a parent off screen as well, links the dowry track with real-life parenting values. She shares, "As a mother, I always tell my daughter to value herself and never compromise on her dignity. No relationship is worth accepting something that goes against your self-respect. I want every daughter to believe that she deserves love without conditions. Taking a stand may feel tough, but it is always the right thing to do."
Ganga Mai Ki Betiyan dowry track and upcoming twists
The dowry conflict will continue to build in the coming episodes of Ganga Mai Ki Betiyan. Viewers will see Ganga Mai, Sahana and Sneha, played by Amandeep Sidhu, push back against the demands and question the system. The storyline will also show Durgawati, portrayed by Indira Krishna, realising that Siddhu loves someone other than Purvi.
Speaking about real-life experiences with dowry, the actor recalls seeing similar situations earlier. Shubhangi adds, "Yes, in earlier times, such situations were not uncommon, even if not always spoken openly. In our family, there was always a clear belief that relationships should be built on respect, not transactions. We chose to walk away from anything that didn't align with our values. I feel it's important to stand firm, even if it's difficult."
Over time, Ganga Mai Ki Betiyan has featured issues such as son preference and the routine discrimination women endure. Lead actors Sheizaan Khan as Siddhu and Amandeep Sidhu as Sneha anchor these narratives, which aim to reflect social realities while keeping the emotional core rooted in family bonds, moral choices and personal courage.
The current dowry storyline shows how financial pressure, social expectations and family honour collide within one household. Through Ganga Mai’s sacrifice, Sahana’s struggle and Sneha’s support, the show presents a clear stance against dowry, while Shubhangi Latkar’s comments underline the need for respect-based relationships and stronger voices for daughters everywhere.
