Hastinapur Ke Veer: Toral Rasputra On bringing Kunti To Life In Sony SAB's Show: "I Want Audiences..."
Mumbai, June 9th, 2026: Sony SAB's new magnum opus Hastinapur Ke Veer brings to life the untold early years of Pandavas and Kauravas, the relationships, upbringing and ambitions that shaped the destiny of Hastinapur. At the core of this epic story is Kunti, played by Toral Rasputra, a woman whose choices, sacrifices and unwavering strength were the rock of the Pandavas' legacy. Toral, a screen actress known for her strong and memorable women, now plays perhaps her most layered role yet, breathing life into a character whose influence changed the course of history.

In a candid conversation she talks about the emotional and psychological journey of playing Kunti, what she learnt about the iconic character during her preparation and what the audience can look forward to in the episodes ahead.
1. What was your first reaction when you heard the storyline and your character arc?
My first reaction was excitement mixed with a sense of responsibility. Kunti is one of the most respected and complex characters in Indian mythology. When I heard about her journey and the emotional depth of the storyline, I knew this would be a challenging but rewarding role to portray.
2. Your characters have often been strong and memorable women. How does this role differ from the ones you've portrayed before?
While I've played strong characters before, Kunti's strength comes from a very different place. She is not only a mother but also a symbol of wisdom, sacrifice and resilience. Her life reflects the struggles between duty, emotion and morality and her character teaches the importance of courage. Her resilience is quiet yet powerful, which makes her truly unique.
3. How did you prepare for this role? Did it require any special research or training?
I keep reading about Kunti's life and I am continuously trying to understand her emotional journey. As I said, it's a very complex character strong, wise and yet deeply human. I'm working on portraying her strength, dignity and inner conflicts in an authentic way. I keep discussing the character extensively with the director and the creative team to align with their vision. The preparation is more emotional and psychological than physical.
4. Did you discover anything surprising about Kunti during your preparation that changed your perception of her?
What surprised me most was how human she is. We often think of mythological characters as larger than life, but Kunti faced doubts and fears just like anyone else. Understanding her vulnerabilities helped me connect with her on a much deeper level.
5. What do you think are some lesser-known qualities of Kunti that viewers will discover through this show?
I think viewers will see her wisdom, emotional intelligence and inner conflicts more closely. Beyond being the mother of the Pandavas, she was a strategist, a guide, someone who constantly put her family's well-being above her own happiness.
6. The bond between Kunti and the Pandavas is central to the story. How have you built that chemistry with the young actors?
All of them are super talented and hardworking; they know their craft really well. We also did some workshops before we started shooting for the show and had many conversations about our characters' relationships. That preparation has made a real difference.
7. Audiences see the grandeur and seriousness of Hastinapur on-screen. What's the atmosphere like when the cameras stop rolling?
It's actually very warm and lively! Despite the intense scenes, there's a lot of laughter, friendly banter and mutual support on set. Everyone works hard, but we also make sure to enjoy the process and have fun together.
8. Without revealing too much, what can viewers expect from Kunti's journey in the coming episodes?
Viewers can expect an emotional and inspiring journey. Kunti will face difficult challenges that test her strength, wisdom and resilience. I believe audiences will see a side of Kunti that feels more real and relatable, not just as a mythological figure, but as a woman, a mother and an individual whose decisions play a crucial role in shaping history.
