A reliable industry source exclusively informed Filmibeat Chief Copy Editor Abhishek Ranjit, "Indian Idol season 16 has received an extension. The channel (Sony TV) informed the production house recently about extending the hit show for a few weeks. Considering the success of Indian Idol on SonyLIV, the network is keen to keep the show on air for a long period. The new season has already completed five months, and it is expected to be extended till IPL 2026 ends."

Earlier this week, we also revealed that the show will mark the return of two former contestants as wildcards. Myscmme Bose and Chaitanya Devadhe have entered Indian Idol season 16 as wildcard contestants.
