'I Am Not Divorced': Kanika Maheshwari Finally Breaks Silence On Rumours About Husband Ankur Ghai
Kanika Maheshwari has clarified that she is not divorced from her husband, businessman Ankur Ghai, ending months of speculation around her marriage. The television actor said the couple continues to be married, even though they currently live in different cities and have faced difficult phases in their relationship.

The Diya Aur Baati Hum actor addressed the rumours during an appearance on Hauterrfly’s The Male Feminist. Kanika said reports and online claims about her divorce had gone too far, especially because she and Ankur had not legally ended their marriage. She also confirmed that they are in a long-distance marriage, with him based in Delhi and her living in Mumbai.
Kanika Maheshwari says divorce rumours are not true
Speaking about the speculation, Kanika said, “He is not even my ex. I am not divorced. I don't know who has spread this rumour. I am not divorced, mera kyun divorce karwana chahte ho yaar? He is living in Delhi, and I am living in Bombay. We are still married.”
Her statement is significant because rumours about a split had been circulating for some time. Reports of trouble in her marriage first gained attention in 2023. By 2024, speculation around a possible divorce became stronger, creating the impression that the couple had already separated legally.
Kanika acknowledged that divorce was discussed at one stage. She said she had filed for divorce in 2024, but the situation changed later. According to the actor, the matter did not move ahead in the way people assumed, and the couple eventually worked through their differences.
She said, “Voh satya hai lekin it got faded away. Woh bhi kisne leak karni mujhe nahi pata hai. Logon ne mujhe divorced hi bana diya. Actually, today, journalism has become a business. Nowadays, sell what is getting sold. We are living separately, we are in a long-distance marriage, but there's a different fun in romancing like this.”
What Kanika Maheshwari said about long-distance marriage
Kanika’s clarification also offered a rare look at how she views marriage after conflict. She did not deny that she and Ankur had gone through a challenging period. Instead, she described their current situation as one where they are still together, despite living apart and managing their personal equation from different cities.
The actor said that repairing a relationship requires effort from both sides. She spoke about the need for self-growth, honest communication and truthfulness between partners. Her comments suggested that reconciliation was not instant, but came after both people chose to engage with the issues between them.
For television audiences who have followed Kanika’s career for years, the clarification settles a personal question that had become public gossip. It also underlines how celebrity marriages are often judged through partial information, especially when couples are seen living separately or keeping their personal lives private.
Kanika and Ankur Ghai got married in January 2012. The couple became parents in 2015, when they welcomed their son. Over the years, Kanika has spoken sparingly about her family life, choosing largely to keep the focus on her acting career and professional commitments.
