Lock Upp 2 Akanksha-Gaurav Khanna divorce reason: Lock Upp: Sach Ya Sazaa opened its new season on Netflix on June 27 with a major personal revelation from contestant Akanksha Chamola. During the premiere episode, the actress said that she and actor Gaurav Khanna are heading for divorce after living separately for nearly a year.

The disclosure came when Akanksha picked the “Expose” card inside the prison-themed reality show. The format, hosted by Farah Khan and Riteish Deshmukh, introduced 15 celebrity contestants in its first episode, but Akanksha’s confession became the biggest talking point of the premiere.

Speaking about her marriage, Akanksha said, “So, me and Gaurav are getting a divorce. We have been separated and living separately since a year. It has not been public but yeah now... We have been sitting on this since last year.”

The Swaragini actress added that the decision was not driven by bitterness. “Things are not bad between us, we talk to each other. But we also think that we are not compatible as partners because we both see a different future. There's no bad blood between us,” Akanksha said on the show.

Her statement surprised viewers because the couple had not publicly addressed any trouble in their marriage before this. Gaurav Khanna remains one of television’s most recognisable names, especially for his role as Anuj Kapadia in Anupamaa.

Akanksha also indicated that the separation had been discussed within the family before it became public. She said both sets of parents had advised them to spend time apart and understand where the relationship stood before taking a final call.

“His parents and my parents suggested that we should live separately and find each other. They thought that if we talked to each other and attended public events together, things might improve. But there are no feelings of being a married couple left now. This will be news for our families as well,” she said.

Akanksha further hinted that the decision had been taken around the time Gaurav was part of Bigg Boss 19. However, she maintained that the two remain on talking terms and there is no hostility between them.

As of now, Gaurav Khanna has not issued a public response to Akanksha’s statement. With Lock Upp: Sach Ya Sazaa just beginning, the revelation has already given season one of its most discussed moments.
