Naked and Afraid: Aadimanav: Who Is Sudipa Mondal? Meet Parkour Coach Part Of Warner Bros. Discovery’s Show

Sudipa Mondal is stepping far outside the comfort zone of a regular reality show. The 38-year-old parkour coach from Sindri, Jharkhand, is one of the participants in Naked and Afraid: Aadimanav, Discovery India’s first Indian adaptation of the popular global survival format.

The six-episode series premiered on June 15 on Discovery Channel and is also streaming on discovery+. Set in the wild landscapes of Palawan in the Philippines, the show places six participants in harsh survival conditions, with limited resources and very little room for error.

Who Is Sudipa Mondal? She brings movement training to Naked and Afraid: Aadimanav

For Sudipa, the show is more than a physical challenge. Known for her work around functional movement, conscious living and holistic wellbeing, she enters the survival format with a mindset shaped by discipline, minimalism and body awareness.

The participants are seen navigating dense jungles, caves, rivers and coastal terrain. The format tests not just strength, but adaptability, patience and mental control. For someone trained in parkour, the body may be a tool, but the wild demands much more than technique.

Speaking about her journey, Sudipa said in a statement quoted as saying by Just Showbiz, “Life has shown me some serious contrasts. I grew up in Sindri within limited means and my career took me to the big city, Mumbai where excess is a way of life. I battled that, centered myself and chose a life of frugality circumventing the minute-to-minute temptations. Little did I realize that this lifestyle was the universe preparing me for Naked and Afraid.”

Why Sudipa said yes to the survival challenge

Sudipa revealed that she accepted the show during a difficult personal phase. The opportunity, she said, made her question what she could endure when removed from modern comfort and familiar routines.

“When I was approached for the show, I was going through a particularly challenging phase in my life. I remember thinking, if I can survive the concrete jungle, why not the real wild? I wanted to discover who I am when I am left with nothing except a single survival tool,” she said.

She also described the Philippines shoot as surreal and unlike anything she had experienced before. The jungle, according to her, forced her to trust herself in a way city life rarely demands.

Naked and Afraid: Aadimanav airs every Monday and Tuesday at 11 pm on Discovery Channel. The series is also available on discovery+, giving Indian viewers a local version of a format built around endurance, fear, hunger and the human instinct to survive.
