Nasirr Khan Credits Tumm Se Tumm Tak For Giving Him 'A New Identity'; Says, 'Now It's My Responsibility To..
Veteran actor Nasirr Khan, who has won audiences over with his portrayal of Jhende in Tumm Se Tumm Tak, says the show has brought a fresh chapter in both his professional and personal life. While he never anticipated the overwhelming response to his character, he believes it is now up to him to make the most of the opportunity through hard work, discipline, and continuous improvement.

Speaking about the success of the show, Nasirr shared, "Tumm Se Tumm Tak has given me a new boost and a new identity, both professionally and personally. I've gained new fans, and that is a wonderful feeling. Because of that, I'm feeling positive, charged, and grateful."
The actor admitted that although he liked the script and accepted the project because it suited him creatively and professionally, he never expected Jhende to become such a fan favourite. "I liked the story, I liked the character, and the working system suited me, so I said yes. But I never imagined that the show would become such a huge success or that people would love Jhende so much. That's destiny. Now it's up to me how I take this opportunity forward with my work, my attitude and my dedication," he said.
Nasirr revealed that the audience's response has made him even more involved in the creative process. "I read people's comments. I share them. I tell our creatives and producers what viewers are enjoying and what they aren't. This is an opportunity I've received, and I want to make the most of it."
One of the biggest talking points among fans has been Jhende's signature moustache, a look Nasirr initially adopted with a fake moustache before deciding to grow a real one. "When I started the show, I wore a fake moustache. People loved the look so much that they started asking why I don't keep a real one. I've never had a moustache in my life before this. For the first time, I grew one, and people are liking this look. I'm even enjoying it because audiences are seeing a different Nasirr and a completely different character."
Addressing the conversations around the show's age-gap love story, Nasirr clarified that the concept has already been explored successfully in multiple regional languages. "The age difference is the foundation of the story. The show has already been made in Marathi, Bengali and Kannada. Those who have watched those versions know exactly why that age gap exists and where the story goes. We're not doing something completely new. People are enjoying it because the storytelling is strong."
He also praised the show's writing, saying, "The writing is very strong, the content is powerful, the actors are good, and the rapport among us reflects on screen." Speaking about his co-star Sharad Kelkar, Nasirr dismissed rumours surrounding his work ethic and instead praised the discipline both actors bring to the set. "People say Sharad is very particular about time management. Well, so am I. A proper system is important. We don't sit around on our phones. We come prepared, rehearse, discuss the scenes, perform and move to the next one. That's why our productivity shows on screen."
The actor also shared that working with a younger cast member like Niharika Chouksey has been a mutually enriching experience. "She's 20 and I'm 57. Naturally, we come with different energies and different ways of thinking. But that's the beauty of it. She asks me questions, I explain things, and at the same time I learn from her perspective too. It's always a give and take."
Nasirr also opened up about the delayed payment cycles in the television industry, calling for meaningful discussions to improve the system. "Payment delays are a reality. Waiting 90 to 120 days is simply too long, especially for people who come to Mumbai and have rent and daily expenses. If someone starts working in January and gets paid only in April, how are they supposed to manage? I think the industry needs to discuss this seriously so that everyone gets treated fairly."
Discussing social media, the actor described it as a powerful tool that must be handled responsibly. "Social media is both power and entertainment. It's like a loaded gun. Once you put something out there, you don't know where it's going to land or what the consequences will be. That's why you need to think before you post."
Known for his fun behind-the-scenes videos, Nasirr said he enjoys creating light-hearted content because it reflects his real personality. "I love watching what young creators are making. I enjoy creative content and often message creators to appreciate their work. On our set too, I keep everyone laughing. I believe the atmosphere should be healthy. Serious scenes are serious, but otherwise people should enjoy coming to work."
He also believes Tumm Se Tumm Tak stands apart because every major character contributes meaningfully to the narrative. "Yes, Arya and Anu are the leads, but audiences are also loving Jhende, Meera, Gayatri Maa, Pushpa and Gopal. That's because the story has multiple layers and different worlds. Every important character has something meaningful to do, and viewers are connecting with all of them."
In a heartfelt gesture, Nasirr credited co-star Sharad Kelkar and director Yusuf Ansari for helping him deliver one of his most appreciated performances. "If people like my work, the first credit goes to Sharad Kelkar and then to our director Yusuf Ansari. Sharad has such a strong screen presence that performing opposite him pushes you to work even harder. There is no insecurity among us. We constantly discuss scenes, suggest ideas to each other and improve together. That trust and teamwork are what audiences are seeing on screen."
Signing off with a message for fans, Nasirr said, "Keep watching the show. Tell us what you like, and tell us even louder what you don't like so we can improve. I read your comments, I share them, and your love means a lot to all of us."
