Neha Harsora On Navigating The News Boom: “It’s Easier To Stay Updated, But Harder To Know What’s True”

Actor Neha Harsora shares how her news habits have changed in today's fast-paced digital world, along with the challenges she faces.

Looking back, she says, "Earlier, our main sources of news were newspapers and television. We relied on a few channels like Aaj Tak, and that was pretty much how we stayed informed." Things are very different now. "Today, there are so many platforms available. We can get updates instantly about what's happening around the world. Social media has become a major source now, which wasn't the case earlier," she adds. She sees this as a big change that has made it much easier to access information.

But this easy access also has a downside. "I think it's a mix of both-people are more informed, but also more overwhelmed. There is just so much information coming in, and it really depends on how we consume and filter it," Neha explains.

With platforms like X and Instagram everywhere, she says it's important to check facts. "Not all news is true. You really need to cross-check everything before believing it. It's always better to rely on credible and trustworthy sources rather than blindly trusting social media."

When it comes to how news has changed, she thinks this shift was bound to happen. "Today, something that happens anywhere in the world reaches us within minutes. That speed is beneficial, but it has also made news more opinion-driven. Still, it keeps us connected to what's happening globally."

Neha sees the benefits of modern platforms, but she also misses the depth of older formats. "There are drawbacks. Earlier, news had a certain credibility and depth which sometimes feels missing now. But this shift is part of changing demand and evolving times."

For Neha, finding balance is important. "Not every headline needs your attention. Even I come across things written about me and wonder why they are framed that way. That's when you realize not everything is verified," she says. She ends by saying, "It's important to filter what you read and not believe everything you see."
