Prashant Tamang Death: The music industry got the biggest shock this Sunday as one of the shining stars breathed his last. We are talking about Prashant Tamang who got his shot to fame after he had won Indian Idol season 3. In a heartbreaking news, Prashant Tamang passed away on January 11 (Sunday). He was 43 and breathed his last at his residence in Delhi . According to media reports, he was rushed to the hospital wherein he was declared dead on arrival.

Fans Mourn Prashant Tamang's Demise
As the news of Prashant's demise surfaced, the social media is abuzz with tweets mourning the singer's death. Amit Paul, Indian Idol 3 runner-up and Prashant's friend, wrote a heartfelt tribute. "I still cannot process this. My brother has left for the heavenly abode," he wrote. Posts highlighted both the singer's voice and a reputation for humility. One of the Twitter users posted, "Indian Idol winner and actor Prashant Tamang, the first and only Gorkha Indian to win the show, has passed away. Rest in peace, beautiful soul," and shared clips from performances. Another user posted, "Deeply saddened by the sudden demise of renowned singer and actor Prashant Tamang.
Prashant Tamang is survived by spouse Geeta Thapa and their young son, and family members are discussing whether the last rites will be held in Delhi or in Darjeeling.
Who Is Prashant Tamang?
Born on 4 January 1983 in Darjeeling, West Bengal, Prashant Tamang grew up in a family with links to public service. After Prashant Tamang's father, Madan Tamang, died in an accident, Prashant Tamang joined Kolkata Police as a constable. While singing with the Kolkata Police orchestra, colleagues encouraged an audition for Indian Idol in 2007. Once Prashant Tamang entered Indian Idol, voting campaigns surged across the Darjeeling hills, Sikkim, and Nepal. Supporters had organised group votes and outreach drives, pushing phone and SMS votes in large numbers. As a result, Prashant Tamang finally won the Indian Idol Season 3 title with 70 million votes, which turned the singer into a symbol of pride for many Gorkha households.
Prashant Tamang Was Last Seen In Paatal Lok Season 2
Following the Indian Idol victory, Prashant Tamang released a debut album titled Dhanyavad, which included songs in Hindi and Nepali. Prashant Tamang's film work included lead roles in Gorkha Paltan in 2010, Nishani in 2014, and Pardesi in 2015. In recent years, Prashant Tamang gained attention from Indian streaming audiences through the second season of Paatal Lok. Prashant Tamang portrayed sniper Daniel Acho in the series and was expected to appear in the forthcoming film Battle of Galwan, featuring Salman Khan.
