Sanchita Ugale Death: Late Actress' Brother Links Her Demise To SSR; Says 'She Was Facing Immense Pressure'
Television actor Sanchita Ugale, known for appearances in shows including Kumkum Bhagya and Wagle Ki Duniya, has died at the age of 22. Her family said she was found at her residence in Nalasopara, Mumbai, on 14 June 2026. Police officials have treated the death as an alleged suicide, according to the details shared by the family and officials.

Her brother, Akash Satish Ugale, confirmed the news while speaking to reporters. He said Sanchita had been under pressure and linked her death to the wider struggles faced by young actors trying to establish themselves in the entertainment industry. The family has demanded a proper inquiry and justice for the actor.
Sanchita Ugale's Brother's First Statement
Akash said the date of Sanchita’s death had deeply affected the family because it coincided with the death anniversary of actor Sushant Singh Rajput. Sushant was found dead at his Mumbai residence on 14 June 2020. His death had triggered a national conversation around mental health, film industry pressures and the treatment of outsiders in show business.
Speaking to IANS, Akash alleged that Sanchita had been frightened by the pressures of the industry. He claimed that young people from middle-class families often face difficult conditions while trying to move ahead in entertainment. His comments reflected the family’s grief and anger in the hours after the actor’s death.
Akash said, “He (SSR) committed suicide on 14th June 2020. Why? Because Bollywood, this industry, put a lot of pressure on him, and because of that pressure, he committed suicide. In the same way, yesterday my sister also committed suicide for the same reason, that's what I'm saying.”
He also alleged that “power games” operate in the industry and claimed that Sanchita was scared. Akash added, “Yeh industry bahot dara deti hai dhamki deti hai. Jaisi ki Sushant Singh Rajput ko kiya. Usko kha liya andar se khokla kar diya. Isme bade bade logon ka haath rehta hai. Ultimately, power game chalta hai. Humaare jaisi middle class families jo ladki yaa ladke upar jaate hain unko daba diya jaata hai.”
Police Details In Sanchita Ugale's Death Case
Officials said Sanchita was found dead in her bedroom. The room was reportedly locked from the inside. As family members took her to a Vasai-Virar Municipal Corporation hospital, where doctors declared her dead after examination. Further official details on the inquiry were not immediately available. In such cases, police usually record statements from family members, examine the scene and check digital devices if required. Any conclusion on the circumstances of death depends on the investigation and medical findings.
Akash also mentioned an Instagram account that had Sanchita’s photograph as its display picture. According to him, the account uploaded a reel referring to 14 June as the date of Sushant Singh Rajput’s death. He cited this while speaking about the emotional weight of the date for the family.
